No... I'm not growing anything like that! What I should have said was "A Busted Pot"! I have this ceramic pot my best friend's hubby gave to me a couple of years ago. I had some Louisiana Black Iris growing in it... and with one of the freezes this past winter part of it broke off. I couldn't stand to throw it out, so I just set it aside until I could figure out what to do with it. busted pot ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
Well I always repair all my broken pots with plaster. This one no doubt is ceramic, but if I could see where it has broken from - Than I'd be able to suggest something. To me, repaired pots kind of give my garden a unique character. However tilting it on it's side (asyou have done so with yours) is also one great idea, which had never occurred to me! The piece that broke off was quite a huge chunk... and I thought about gluing it back together again. But this seemed so much easier! I just placed it over a potted Oxalis. Done!
Cheryl pots like yours are on sale here and cost a small fortune. I really like what you've done with it. Maybe you should break some more pots!!
Thanks Eileen and Daisy. I have seen "flattened" pots like that around. That's sort of where I got the idea from. But mostly, I don't like throwing out anything so pretty. I'm too cheap to go buy plaster like S-H does... and I'm too impatient to wait for glue to dry!
I like the idea of re-using the broken pots. I lost one of my water plant pots last winter too, just need to find a plant for it to showcase.
