    pretty poinsettia ( photo / image / picture from Kay's Garden )

I'm not a big fan of the Poinsettia plant, but I couldn't resist this beauty. We were having a gathering and I was doing some decorating touches around the house. The bracts are so cool, they have these creamy splotches!
I have to keep it up high of course, so the kitties won't bother it, and I usually treat them as "annuals". I don't know how to take good care of the plants. Think it might like my cool basement room where the grow light is after the holidays?

Very pretty. I would not have been able to resist it either.

Poinsettias are tropicals. I don't think a cool basement will make it thrive.

So Carolyn, do you think I should add it to my sunny sun room? It would be interesting to see if I could keep it alive till it could go outdoors. I have pretty good luck growing all kinds of plants indoors, but have never been able to do a Poinsettia. maybe I ought to care more

A sunny sunroom would be a better choice and a humidifier, too. Try to protect it from any drafts, too.

Oh! That is a very nice color. I would have that in my greenhouse if I saw it in a store....

That's a little beauty - so different from the ones in our shops.

How unusual! I've never seen that variety of poinsettia before, but I'd love to have one if I could find it.
Thanks for sharing your lovely, rare poinsettia with us all!

I don't recall ever seeing a speckled one before. One of my co-workers gave everyone a small Poinsettia. It may be the 2nd I've ever owned. I am going to try to keep it alive and see if I can get it to "flower" like my mom was able to do. All she did was set it on the front porch throughout the year and cover it when there was a chance of frost.
A friend's daughter that lives in Florida recently posted photos of huge beautiful Poinsettias in her yard. She said "I don't do anything and they look like this every year.". So yes... think Tropical when it comes to these pretty plants.
