My Beekeeping mentor and I are having a debate. 8 frame hives versus 10 frame hives? He says 8 frame hives restrict and crowd the bees and no one should ever use them. I think they have their advantages. Anyone want to weigh in? Which do you use?

I use 10 frames for the hive body itself and 8 frame for the honey supers. The 8 frame spacing makes the bees draw the foundation out farther so it is easier to uncap. I use the 10 frame spacing for the hive body so there is more room for eggs. I think it is personal preference for the bee keeper, myself. 8 frame spacing also makes it easier manipulate the frames to look through bees.
