This picture will be 52 years old in August. I was looking at old pictures to send to a family member and found it. You will probably be able to recognize three people in it. Let me know if you need help.

Nice foto. I like old foto's.

I am guessing that you are the bride. Is the sailor DR, or is he the tall one way in the background with a beard?
What is the symbol over the sailor's stripes?

Y'know Dooley, a puzzel is beginning to fall into place a little bit: You once mentioned in your posts that you used to live in Waukegan or Kenosha before moving to the southwest. There is a naval base up there somewhere. Here we see a chap in white, who was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base...or perhaps attended the training camp there.

I have often wondered about you having lived in Wisconsin and then now in Texas and earlier when you lived in Arizona. The regions are so radically different in geography and climate.

You are living in the southwest now, and that means to me that you prefer that type of climate to what is in Wisconsin. What possessed you to live in Wisconsin?
Were you originally from Wisconsin, or did you move there when married or to get married?

I have travelled through Wisconsin as well as Texas and Arizona. Personally I prefer the southwest of America. In particular Arizona, New Mexico and Utah. It's the landscape and the lighting that I so enjoy. The landscape and the colours at different times of the day.

Anyway...enough waffling from me. I enjoyed seeing the pic.

The sailor in white is dr (Brian) and the bride is dooley. The bridesmaid standing next to the bride is wannabe. They symbol about the stripes is a caduceus and stands for the hospital corp. Brian was a psychiatric technician. He went to Great Lakes Naval Base for boot camp and hospital corp school. We met in Kenosha at the local roller skating rink.
I was born in Illinois and moved with family to Wisconsin when I was 14. We moved to Arizona when the car company where Brian worked closed. My mom and dad lived there. We stayed 20 years in Arizona and then moved to Texas. The climate is about the same but it's not so dry.
Texas has about the friendliest people of anywhere we lived.

I'm gonna guess the bride and groom are Dooley and DR... and Wannabe (maid of honor) is standing next to Dooley?

What a lovely photograph Dooley. Your dress is gorgeous and I love the shade of the bridesmaids ones. I had lilac on my wedding day too. Isn't it nice to look back at old pictures and remember special days? :D

Eileen, the young adult leader from church made all of the dresses. They were all made from the same pattern. Mine was satin and lace with long sleeves and theirs was short and had plain overdress. All it costs us was material and pattern. I still have the dress in a box on the closet shelf.

What an interesting story, Dooley. You and Dr were looking quite smart in that foto. I have to say that DR looks quite young in that foto.
Did he have to serve in Viet Nam, or was he out of the Navy by then. If he did, I'll bet that he had quite some experiences.

    Anyway--those wedding garments look splendid.

He was 21 one at that time and he didn't go to Viet Nam. He got out just before Viet Nam, in December, 1962. Thank you for the kind compliments.

I would never have guessed that all the dresses were made from the same pattern. The person who made them for you did a really lovely job.
I still have my wedding dress in a suitcase in the loft. I keep hoping that one day my daughter will wear it if she gets married.

A window to the past, it's great that you have old pictures like that. They refresh good memories with friends and family.
