Looking out of the window I spotted a red headed bird in the mountain ash. I went out of course with the camera and took a few pictures. It came back again later in the day. The sapsuckers have been before but this is the first sighting this winter.

I presume that Sapsuckers are related to woodpeckers as they appear to have similar colourings. Those holes in the tree were they made by this bird by any chance?

Kildale, How do you get these birds to pose for you? You have a talent . Every time I go out in my backyard, all the birds fly away!

Kay, for birds, being photographed by Kildale is like having a photo shoot with a fashion photographer. The bird knows it's going to look great, and get admired!

Beautiful bird... I haven't seen one on display for quite a while. Not sure if we even get them here.

Yes Eileen, the sapsuckers drill the holes and then come back later when the sap runs into them. Glad that you spotted the holes. You are all so kind with your comments, thank you.
