Hubby asked why I haven't been taking photos of the veggie garden. So today he went and picked a sampling of things to show off.

Now here's what I'm waiting on... watermelons and cantaloupes! (Not to mention the corn... but I forgot to get a photo of it).

And as a final warning.... NEVER ever let my hubby try to sell you veggies... his prices are outrageous!
He almost had my brother "the dragon" convinced to give him a $100 just for the bell pepper(said he throw in the bale of hay as a bonus)! :D

Everything looks awesome. Is the watermelon a sangria or crimson sweet? (it looks like the ones we grow).

Dragons are not noted for their bargaining skills. They fly in, grab what they want and fly off. If there are no cattle and sheep near you that may be the reason why. :)
Nice veggies....reminds me I have to pick up some cucumbers.

Carolyn... I have no idea of what varieties of stuff they planted.... except for the Black Jubilee melons. And that's only because every time my cousin comes by he's like..."oh lookie there at those black jubilees!!"

Jerry... I think I've managed to tame that dragon just a bit. But he's still pretty shrewd. He managed to leave with a mess of peas, most of the jalapenos and tabasco peppers and a few more cucumbers. Oh yeah... and all of the tomatoes and one of the eggplants.
And he didn't even leave one measly dollar bill! :D

Philip... I think I'll stick with my flowers. That veggie gardening just seems like too work! Wait... hmmm... same amount of work perhaps... but different kind of rewards. At least I don't have "a dragon" coming by trying to eat my flowers! ;)

Daisy... I haven't done one single thing in the veggie garden. All the kudos go to the hubby and cousin. Most I've done is wander out there and ask "when's that going to be ready to eat?"

Netty... I'll pass along your kind words to them both.

I raise Jubilee and several other type melons every year but I have never heard of a black jubilee. The striped ones look like jubilee. The ones in the other pic look like black diamond melons. They are an old variety.

Mart... you're probably right about black diamond... I just haven't been paying much attention to the name of them and probably got it all mixed up.
I just want to know when they will be ready to eat! :D

Hey Cheryl, Look at the curly Q "tendril" where the stem of the fruit comes off the vine. When that turns yellow/dried your melon is ripe. It should also feel heavy for its size and most likely the bottom will turn yellow if it is white now. then you'll know before he does and can snag it right out from under him :D :D :D

Send him on a wild goose chase for some imaginary NEED. It must be, maybe, over in the next county.

Cor, fabulous veggies! Very envious of your different melons, only once in my life have I ever successfully grown any, and I think the plants have given up the ghost again this year! And as for that pepper, beeeeeeutiful.
