In spite of us having no appreciable rainfall since early July we are having a bumper crop of Big Boy tomatoes.Have 50 + qts of whole tomatoes in the cellar & 21 qts of juice so far. Will make a few more jars of juice & give the rest away.

sewNsow, That's wonderful. We had a great bell pepper season last year. This year we had lots and lots of rain but tomatoes and peppers just aren't doing well. Ya just never know...

Your tomatoes look good. We want to see the tomatoes canned. That would be nice...

Yum. How do you prepare and store the juice? Can you freeze it?

S-H We have made catsup but it is a lot of cooking & stirring in a hot kitchen. Too easy to just buy a bottle. But home canned tomatoes taste soo much better than store bought.I can open up a jar of tomatoes & make spaghetti sauce or salsa
    with just a few seasonings.

I never tell anyone how to put up their harvest. I always tell them to get a good booklet put out by Ball or Kerr or the internet has some good info on canning & freezing.
I use a pressure cooker with confidence but you have to follow directions to the T.
Freezing is an option but I don't like the product as well.
