We just got back from a little adventure last night. It is short because it is a 3 days 2 night thing but the distance is long ... about a total of 1,500 km or more. Super because we travelled by car, ferry, plane, uber and public bus.

3 days ago we started our journey at 8 am in the morning and the car is jam packed with things that my daughter wanted to bring with her to her new place. She recently started a new job in Pulau Langkawi and she left her car behind. Not having a car she was very immobile because where she stay and the work location is in a very remote area of the island. When she came back last she decided to bring her car along and we decided to accompany her on the long journey there.

We actually travelled more than two thirds way up the country, we started from Bukit Katil. Google map indicated 640km but with some travelling to here and there looking for food and whatever, the total journey travelled by car is about 850km or more. The journey was kind of a boring because we used the toll highway to cut down on travelling time. After some stop here and there we reached our first day destination at about 7pm.

This was where we spent a night in a kampong homestay. It was nice and peaceful and the surroundings brought back some wonderful childhood memories.

The next day we had to spent sometime on the mainland before boarding the ferry because it was scheduled to leave at 1pm.

That is the island we were heading to.

We were on dry land again after about 2 hours or so, the first thing we did was to check into our hotel and freshen up. After that we went to our daughters living quarters which is provided by her employer to unload all the stuff that she had fully packed into the car.
After the important things were done it was shopping time!

Langkawi being a duty free island so some of the things are cheaper like liquor, cigarettes & tobacco, chocolate and so on. Since we don't drink or smoke so it is chocolates and we bought a few bars of imported chocolates which I just had some just a moment ago ... yummy!

Thank you Philip, I like road trips and finding great eating places but on the toll highway it is boring and eating is in fixed location, commercialized and boring.

I fully agree with you there KK,..far nicer and more adventurous to seek out an appealing eating place,..with a menu that has ones mouth watering before going through the door :)

Beautiful photos KK. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. I hope your daughter is happy in her new digs & I hope that you and your wife will be able to visit her regularly. It looked like quite a journey...beautiful, but nonetheless quite a distance.

Thank you Cayuga Morning, yes she is happy. Yes it is quite a journey by road and luckily there are flights from there to an airport which is about 2 hours away. There are plans to introduce a direct flight from the airport that is just 20 minutes away from our home to where she is working and this will take just about an hour for the journey :)
