Hello all you fellow "dirt diggers" ! I looked on your Members Map and our big state had no pins; so I figured I change that! Yes, even though we are in the cold dark North (that's only half of the year) we take advantage of the long daylight hours in the summer and grow as much as possible. I grow flowers, mostly perennials, raspberries, strawberries, apple trees, cool weather veggie crops in the garden-potatoes, carrots, peas, all kinds of greens, broccoli, and cabbage. I have a greenhouse I use to (try) to grow tomatoes, cukes, squash and bush beans. It certainly keeps me busy in the summer. The winter months get pretty long; but I enjoy beading, reading, participating in various forum groups, online activism, And of course, looking over seed catalogs and planning & dreaming of Spring. coolalaskan
Hello coolalaskan Welcome to the stew from southern Ontario! Winter months feel very long here too. I also pour over gardening books, magazines and seed catalog's to get me thru. And of course, hang out at Gardenstew

Hi coolaslaskan Also joined recently. Welcome. I always have these visions of icy cold weather whenever someone mentions Alaska. However, we are just entering Spring and in gardening terms the work just started again. you seem to be growing quite a lot of your own fresh produce. I hope to start doing that myself this Spring and Summer.
