We got up at 6 am and prepared breakfast and started off to the Fire Dept. fundraiser. It was cold, only 38 degs at 7:15. We started to wipe the condensation off of the window. Oops! It was frozen. But, only lightly so with a little rubbing it all came off. We set up along a road by the community center. Right across from us was a stand that Toni would have loved. yard ornaments ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) hot air balloons ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) There was one for Frank, too but I guess I loaded the wrong one to My Garden. He might like this one, too, though. ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) There were things for the kids, too. Something for the kids, too ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) There were dozens of smokers going and filling the air with a wonderful aroma. another smoker ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) . smokers were everywhere ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) Some were individuals and some were sponsered groups. We even found a group that we knew. ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) We were late getting home. They gave us a free lunch with our admission. I didn't make a ton of money but we sure had a good time. We did well enough, I think. It was sunny and warm in the afternoon but cold again last night. I think fall definitely has found Texas. No snow though. dooley
Great photographs Dooley. Toni is going to be green when she sees all those beautiful garden ornaments. I'm pea coloured too as I'd have loved to have taken home some of the hot air balloons. I know it was cold for the fundraiser but, thankfully it stayed dry for everyone and a good time was had by all.
Looks like a fun day! I used to have one of those Hot Air Balloon twirlies. Kept it for years. Found another one like it in California a couple of years ago and it didn't last but a few months. I sure would have purchased one of those on site!
Dooley, sounds like you had a great day. (At least there was no snow there). I always thought anything was better than sitting at home and ending up with nothing for the day. Yours at least you can put away for another day, and pull it right back out in the same condition it was in when you left it, unlike produce or bread.
