I've been noticing a yard sale for the last two days on my work commute and finally remembered to stop there this afternoon. They had lots of knick-knacks & stuff and I was about to give up hope on finding anything that I liked... until I found this one area of baskets and picked out three of them. yard sale baskets ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) I plan on filling the wicker one in the back with some succulents to add to the plant sale at the church this fall. That one in the front is metal with neat handles. No specific plans... but what do you want to bet it'll end up with a plant in it? And the little colored one is made of some type of wood with wire supports (coated with plastic)and so is the bottom. The outside is some type of rope/string. Yep... probably will end up as a planter also. But wait... that's not all I found. A decorative metal watering can.... Burpee's watering can ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) It's kinda hard to see in the photo... but it says "Burpee's". I have the perfect spot for this on the shelf over my potting table. Total price for all items.... $3.00! Cha-CHING!
What a good selection of baskets and I really like the watering can. All for only $3 that's just got to be a great bargain in anyone's book. :-D
Now then Cheryl....whatcha gonna do with alla´them baskits? Well, you know, you could use the wire basket in front to harvest veg. If you have beans, a page of newspaper in the bottom would keep them from falling out through the holes. If you cut flowers to place in a vase indoors, you could lie the cut flowers in that basket as you cut them. I can see you prancing about with the basket hanging off your forearm as you gather and cut flowers. hahaha
Thanks everyone! You could see from the road that they might have had some good stuff... not like most sales where all you see is racks of clothes. Sjoerd.... now that is a picture of myself that I just can't imagine!
Lots of memories, will one of the baskets be green and yellow? For those of you who have not sung the 1879 rhyme in a long time: A-tisket a-tasket A green and yellow basket I wrote a letter to my love And on the way I dropped it, I dropped it, I dropped it, And on the way I dropped it. A little boy he picked it up and put it in his pocket. There is also another version by Ella Fitzgerald. Jerry
