Well, at looks like it has ears. It is a fungus but I don't know what kind it is. Looked at Kildale's photos but I did not find a match. ( photo / image / picture from Chrisle's Garden )
Those look like "shelf mushrooms" to me (Laetiporus) but I'm no mushroom/fungi expert. They generally appear where there is a wound in the tree.
They are a type of shelf mushroom, but I don't know which one. The ones we get here are white when they are young and then turn brown.
