We decided to take our dog, Sassy Marie, on her first trip to the beach on Sunday. We also wanted to see how much damage Hurricane Ike did to our fav spot... High Island (which is about 30 miles East of Galveston).
Here she was having the time of her life! She had so much fun fetching in the water... except for when a wave would crash over her. It was fun to watch her. Wonder if she dreamed about it when she finally got to nap?
    :D

So... after all the fun we headed home paying closer attention to the damage to the area. It was better than I thought, but still kind of sad to see the destruction done to the area from the high waters.
Here's one reminder of high the water got... here's a huge bouy with a long, large chain stuck near the top of a tree. That thing had to travel quite a distance to get that far inland!

Hopefully over time the beach will get back to "normal" and the nearby towns will continue to rebuild.

So glad there wasn't too much damage to High Island.

Sassy certainly looks so happy playing on the beach. I shouldn't wonder if she dreamt of her trip or not -as I'm positive she did. :-D

Looks like Sassy had the best time. I really miss walking along the beach or just sitting on the rocks and watching the waves.

I heard that the EGGO Waffle factory was partially underwater. EGGO's are becoming a rare commodity in the stores now.

Summer seems so far away now....
Love seeing Sassy having so much fun... what is the word I would use... she looks joyous. Glad the damage to the area was not too bad...

Thanks for showing the cool place where sassy runs.
The water is so cute when it behaves.

Yes... She was/is a happy girl!
We picked up a few sea shells, and now that she realizes where they come from, she'll pick one up and play with it! :-D

Glendann.... is we're thinking of the same Honey Island... as far as I know it wasn't "too" damaged because of it's distance inland. We usually drive through there headed up to East Texas to visit the in-laws.

I love to see dogs running and playing on the beach. They have as much fun as my kids! :) Amazing to see that buoy up the tree.

This is what I love about living on the beach. It can be enjoyed all year round, especially with dogs.
