We were sitting out this weekend enjoying an afternoon on the patio when a lil shower came by. Since I had our new video camera handy I filmed this lil video of the rain shower. This is not unusual at all and this time of the year almost a daily occurrence.

I like your voice :D We had a good rain last night. I love how the air smells after rain, kind of spicy, but clean!

We've had rain like that before now. Coming from Scotland though it's only to be expected - no matter the season. At least the garden gets a good soaking!!

We had a couple of rain showers during the weekend but they didn't amount to much. When I first moved back to Texas after living in south Florida for 5 years, many years ago, it took a while to get used to not having daily rain showers.... certainly don't miss the mugginess those showers left for the rest of the day though.

Yea, what lots of folks don't realize is when the sun comes out after those good soakers is all that water begins to evaporate again completely saturating the air till it goes away.

I must admit, I did NOT watch your video... I've seen and heard enough rain lately, in person! :chuckle:

Oh, how I miss the rain. We are in a drought. :( No significant rain in months. How lucky to have daily showers for the garden. :like:

Jewell, That is so unusual in your neck of the woods. Are you close to a temperate rain forest?

We are part of the temperate rain forest. "Rain" has typically been our middle name. My yard grows moss better than grass:whistling: but this year one variety of moss has peeled off the pavers and most others have gone dormant. From July through September it is usually dry but cool. Temps this next week will probably stretch into the triple digits:confused:. Hardly any rain this winter and fall with no snow pack will mean water shortages. El Niño is giving us the one-two punch.:(

Wow Jewell. I hope the weather turns. I also hope you have a good well.
Tell me, are the areas where you are growing plants in a hugelkulture doing better? ie needing to be watered less?

CM, the hugels definitely need less water than the other beds. City water will be costly as always, just more so since it is metered. Imagine rationing will also be part of the equation:confused:.
