A really dear friend called me today and wanted me to come play in the dirt with her in her yard in town. She is the one that gave me so many plants before I went to Heathers in Dec.The kaloches is some she gave me. I went I came home with new lillies , blue irises, flowering quince about5 ft tall a pomergrante tree.snow bells.Daffodils jonquills, english ivy ,violets many more but can't remember the names. I got the quince planted late this evening and pomegrante.
How wonderful! It's very nice to have friends like that. So far I'm the first of my friends with a house & yard of my own and so the only things we swap are clothes and gossip of course, . I do swap deer jerky for preserves with my SIL though and I find it helps keep us close, even though we may not have much in common we always have things to talk about and a reason to get together. Congratulations on such wonderful new flowers and plants I can't wait to hear where they get planted.
You're lucky to have such a friend, and she's lucky to have you to share her garden and plants with too! I guess you'll be busy planting all those new lovelies?
Okaaaaaaaaaaaaaay then, Glendann! That's quite some haul. What luck. Your garden just keeps getting lovlier and lovlier, doesn't it. I love the blooms of the quince. There are folks here that make jam from it's fruit. There are two folks on our lottie complex that have quinces that I know of. I can hardly wait to see the piccies. heh heh heh I am so happy for you.
I have been out playing in the dirt this morning .I hope they all live.I got most all planted .It kept getting colder and colder I finally got all plant but a few bulbs and they can wait.I was told the quince fruit made wonderful jelly. That the older folks use to make it all time .Sounds good.My friends big quince has so many blooms .My little one has a few and now less as some fell off in the move.
I wish I had friends like that Glenda! (None of my friends are into gardening...go figure!) What a great haul! Did you have room in your gardens or will you have to make a new one?
I have acousin like that, she will jab her fork in the ground and scoop up a bit of anything I happen to admire (only trouble being she lives in clay, I live in rocks, and the plants are appalled at the change in scenery, rarely survive) Boy, now I really want to see a pic of your friends garden in bloom!
I will go back as we just touched the tip of the iceburg.I will take pictures when they start blooming.
This is exciting - It is great having such a lovely friend sharing her plants with you. I can just imagine how busy you will be planting all the gifts in the garden where they belong. Good luck.
That is a friend indeed . . . I am happy that she blessed you with so many treasures. I am sure you will enjoy them. Thank you for sharing your good news . . .
I'm really happy for you Glenda but I'm afraid I have a bit of the 'green eyed monster' in me coming to the fore!! Yes I'm just a tad jealous of you having such a great friend who is happy to share her plants with you. I no longer have anyone to plant share with. I'll look forward to seeing all the piccies of your new babies.
They are coming on really good. The bulbs wont bloom again until next Spring but so many are putting out so good .I do hope the irises bloom this year as I do love those beauties.
Thanks for the update, Glendann...I am especially interested to hear how that pomegranat cdoes this spring.
I do have some little snow bells that is now blooming .The little pomegrant is putting on leaves now.
