The wedding was Randy's sister's. Just a small affair but sweet. Only problem was that the air conditioner died before we all got to the venue, doors had to be left open and a large fan hooked up for blowing air around...105 outside and at least that inside.

Found Zula's Coffee Shop on the way home yesterday, it is a neat little coffee shop in Waxahachie, old but clean and comfy chairs, they have a cool little garden they are starting on the side of the building, the service was great and the coffee was very good. Almost as good as our favorite Dunn Bros here but much better than that other corporate store whose name shall forever more remain unspoken. I didn't have the camera and didn't remember that our phone has a camera in it so I guess we will just have to make a trip back down there to take photos...plus all the junque shops there are closed on Mondays!!

But never fear, those who know me well know we never go on a road trip without finding at least one junque/antique/thrift store to wander through and buy from. And yesterday was no exception, even though I didn't find very many things.

I LOVE these pans, I have a growing collection of them and there are so many out there now they are very inexpensive. I use them out in the garden as plant trays or dirt catcher when potting up plants, etc..

Definately not an antique but it has been used and the price was good so it will be on the counter to collect bits of foods destined for the compost barrel....

Couldn't resist this stack of magazines, haven't found them for sale around here in ages and for about 50 cents each I was happy to bring them home.

This little stool just jumped into my arms as I walked down the aisle of one shop. It's about 15 inches tall, metal and painted one of my favorite colors. The bottom shelf has an indentation for a planter and holes for drainage.

Next month we are going to Scotland for a weekend ....Scotland, Texas that is. And not the whole weekend but will do a drive through just so we can say we have been to Scotland. ;) http://www.texasescapes.com/TexasTowns/ ... -Texas.htm

A sunflower stool! :D That's so neat. I'm certain it wanted a good home and knew you could provide it. The tray's very nice too. I like enamelled metal stuff but they're hard to come by in the junque shops and the new ones are too expensive. What are the magazines? I don't know them.

Oh Tony I am an avid bargain hunter also. That is a cute little metal stool. My Mom and I will go on a treasure hunt at second hand store and resale shops. It's the hunt that is so much fun. :-D
I also hate to go too a town without checking to see if they have a second hand store. You never know what you will come across.
Enjoy your trip to Scotland. Say, one of you should wear a kilt so you fit in :D :D I know, I know, that's a lot of blarney :D :D Looking forward to seeing if you find any treasure's. Thanks for sharing. :stew1:

You do find the neatest things! I'd dearly love that spatterware lidded pot since it would be so handy for kitchen chicken scraps (my compost pile has suffered since we got chickens).
Quick story about the white enamel ware. My sister was thrilled that she got a "bowl" of white enamel ware at a yard sale. She was describing it in detail, and I held off telling her she had bought a bedpan. I do hope she didn't bring it to the table filled with peas for dinner.

Droopy, the magazine has articles and stories from life in 'the good old days' subscribers can submit stories, photos, etc. It hasn't been on the shelves of bookstores around here in ages so I was glad to find these.

I have two white enamel Chamber pots like
    this
I use one as a bucket with one of the rain barrels and the other that does have a lid is inside holding a knitting project.

First one I bought I didn't realize what it was until Randy told me. Good thing I didn't plan on cooking soup or stew in it. ;)

Well you certainly had a great week-end!! First the wedding then a good coffee shop and then (and best of all) a junque shop. :-D
I have simialr items to your first two photographs but they are used for cooking as they were bought, new, years ago. I really like the little stool with the sunflower on it and I'm sure I could find a place for it. ;)

What a pity the Scotland you're visiting isn't THIS one but I guess it's a heck of a way to travel for just a week-end. :p

I love the rich blue of the spatter pot Toni.
We have a magazine of that ilk in Ireland also called "Ireland's Own". Recently I found old copies of it that my mother had misplaced for years. One interesting section is the "lonely hearts" section, before internet dating :)
