Just looked out at the bird feeders and there was a whole herd of Turtle Doves under them. There was 14 of them eating off the ground. They get mainly cracked corn and a few sunflowe seeds.

Turtle doves are very rare in the U.S. especially in the cold climates. Can you take some pictures?

They are gone now. They may not be Turtle Doves, but we do have a lot of doves around here. They are the same as the ones they have in the south such as Georgia.

They look like Mourning Doves, they are the clean up crew around birdfeeders. I don't usually have to worry about seeds on the ground germinating, the doves don't let them sit there that long. I love to hear them early in the morning.

I get a kick out of watching them walk. Their heads bob front to back. The faster they walk, the faster they bob.

I have a soft spot for the doves in their drab little coats, and for the showy cardinals.

I love their cooing too. Have to watch them though, those doves will build their nests in the most vulnerable places...

Right now I have 10 pairs of cardinals. The most I have ever had. They don't build much more of a nest than doves do.

We had some little doves in the yard this morning. I love to watch the birds out the window in the morning before things get moving and they fly to the back. There doesn't seem to be so many cardinals this year as there were last year but there is enough for me to enjoy watching them. dooley
