Philip, dear, that's not even close to a bright light... your 'broom' is like the sun itself on a clear day! Do you keep sunglasses handy when going back and forth??!! It's just totally awesome. Wait... who was it that posted earlier today about a bright object in the sky around midnight? I bet it was your 'broom'!!!! And what is that big gorgeous mass of purple flowers in the last photo? Oh... and of course the roses and hollyhocks are just so darn pretty.
Hi Jerry, thank you!,..i just arrived home tonight,..i was AWOL for about 8 days,..just spoiling myself seeing the rain and wind and cold arrived,..so away i went, . Hi Cheryl, lol,..the light in the sky!!,..oh the blue/purple flower is Lobelia inflata,..comes in purple,..blue or red,..also called 'Indian tobacco plant'. Honestly the Scotch Broom would nearly make one wear sun glassed,..its vivid!.
We have scotch broom lining the highways here. Especially the road to my work. Despite it being a weed here, it is so pretty the guy in front of at HomeDepot was buying two plants to take home. Yours certainly brightens up any corner. The seeds from the pods evidently self-sow pretty abundantly. At least in this local. Your garden is so pretty. That Lobelia inflata is spectacular! Of course I am partial to lavenders and pinks
I wondered what the glow in the sky was coming over the water!! Now I know it's your broom Philip. The more I see of your garden the more I like it. If you ever see a Scottish woman wandering around looking green with envy I'm afraid it will be me.
That is AMAZING! Love all your shots, but that Scotch Broom is something I've never seen and it is stunning.
Is this what someone was asking about the other night?, something about an orange glow on the horizon(in the sky) in the night. They are very pretty. I love the purple one, too. I haven't seen anything like it here before.
Lol!!!,..at the light in the sky,..so i am staying in the shade and taking pictures from there. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Just kidding!, Hi Jewell, yes sadly the Scotch Broom is classed as a noxious weed in most parts of America,..of course its a long time since it was first planted,..mainly to keep roadsides from falling onto the road,..the roots of the Scotch Broom tend to hold the roadside or bank intact,..its a very attractive flower/weed,..mine doesn't seed itself from pods!,..like the ones in America,..as to why?,.. is beyond me!,..but mine is a yellow and red flower and the one they talk about mostly has just yellow flowers,..there might be something there. Hi Carolyn, ah yes you all like that Lobelia inflata,..very easy to grow,..we had temperatures below 19C last winter and it survived,..the picture you see above where it is growing at the base of the tree,..well the Lobelia is 2ft 6 inches high there due to the fact i have rocks around the base of the tree,..i have plans to create a six foot column of Lobelia,..so watch this space as the saying goes. Hi Calin,..so you saw the light!,..Hallelujah!! Hi Eileen, something for you about Scotch Broom,..in a Scottish accent. Their groves o'sweet Myrtle let Foreign Lands reckon, Where bright-beaming summers exalt the perfume; For dearer to me yon lone glen o'green bracken, Wi' the burn stealing under the lang, yellow broom. For dearer to me are you humble broom bowers. Where the blue-bell and gowan lurk, lowly, unseen; For there, lightly tripping, among the wild flowers,A-List'ning the linnet, aft wanders my Jean. Robert Burns. (1759-1796)
Good one Philip and very much apprectiated. However your Irish brogue just couldn't be supressed completely could it?
Hi Eileen, if you only heard me reading back my post,..what a mixture,.. i have Lobelia in several spots in my garden. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) Cat Mint opposite.
