They're still in hibernation here. Luckily, my dogs have never met one, but a lot of my neighbor's dogs have.

I'd have had my nose glued to the window with my camera in hand!! I've only ever seen a skunk in a zoo and it didn't look as healthy as your one CK. Thanks for taking a photograph of it for us.

They usually come out of hibernation about mid Feb to early March here. Now that the snow is off the ground, they will probably start digging in the yard looking for grubs and worms.

We had a visit from one this morning, we did not see him, but he left a faint scent behind. I am glad Charity did not find him, she would have tried to kill it.

Hope you did not spook it. I hope that I won't ever have such a close encounter. They are quite cute, too bad they are so smelly.

I'm also glad he was your visitor and not mine, I would be giving them (the dogs) tomato paste baths instead of reading the forums. I've only had to do that once I'm hoping it doesn't become a habit it's no fun at all!

There are 2 different kinds that I know of. The one like this one and the one with the single white stripe down the middle.

We still have snow and for the last two nites, our outside dog has been barking at something. When I went out to feed him I got a wiff of him (the skunk) and hoped he wasn't bothering the dog.
