I went to the eye surgeon and she said that my eyes are healing extremely well. I have to finish up the eye drop schedule. That's one more week for the left eye and 3 weeks for the right eye. I don't have to go back to see her anymore. I go see my regular eye Dr. tomorrow to order my new glasses.

Very good news about your eyes. Almost makes me ready to get mine done....almost but not quite, they aren't ready yet anyway.

By the end of May you should be out in the garden again right?

Syarface, they have the cateract surgery down to such a science now that it is out patient surgery. The worse part is the prep for the surgery. They put eye drops in to dilate your eyes and that takes almost an hour. They don't put you out but just make you groggy so you don't care about what they are doing. On my second eye they didn't have me out as much as they did for the first eye. I could see what she was doing and hear her talking. I nrw when she took out the natural lense and put in the acyrlic one. The first day it is a little hard to see because everything is so bright, but after the eye dilation gets back to normal, the difference is so dramatic. Before the surgery my distance vision was 20/45 in both eyes. Now it is in the 20/20 range. I will have to have a slight perscrition just to sharpen things up and of course my bifocal for reading. People can tell you how much of a difference it is, but until you have it done, you just don't realize the differenc.

I don't know how I missed this post. Great to hear that everything is going so well for you CK after the surgery on your second eye. It must be wonderful to see everything properly after so long. Don't do any heavy lifting for a few weeks yet though just to be on the safe side 'cause I worry about you.

Yes, the cateracts are on the lense and cannot be removed. So they make a tiny slit in the edge of the lens sac k, and go in with an instrument thet breaks up the lense and vacuums out all the pieces. Then They use another instrument to place the new lense. It is rolled up and then it unrolls. There are little legs on it to keep it centered. The whole procedure takes about 10 minutes per eye. They do one eye at a time. There was a 2 week span between eyes for me. No pain at all.
