The Christmas decorations are all down and put away for another year! Took me about 5 minutes for the indoor one. Gathered up the 2 doz. cards that we had on display. Then about 30 minutes to get the lights and stuff down on the front deck. It's warm out there today. It's about 50 deg. F with bright sun shine too. It feels more like late March than early Jan. Wouldn't make me mad at all if it stayed like this until March!

Congratulations, Captain! Taking down decorations in freezing weather is NOT fun, so I'm glad you didn't have to suffer.
We took our decorations down, inside and out, tree and all within two hours on New Year's Day. The tree will become compost, the decorations are stashed, and now all I have to do is vacuum up tree needles for the next six months!

When we put a tree up, we don't use a live tree. We got tired of all the clean up with one. This year my wife said at Thanksgiving that she was going to put the tree up this year. A week before Christmas I asked her if she was still going to put it up and she said, yep. Christmas morning I told her the tree really looked nice setting in it's box on the back porch. She just stuck her tongue out at he! Hehehehe

Most of the decorations are put away. As my wife puts small things here and there occasionally there is the 'Oh, there is another decoration we missed'. It takes awhile to round them all up. The last to be put away is a ceramic village in a bay window that is more a winter than a Christmas decoration. It is usually put away on the ides of January.

I usually leave one Christmas ornament hanging around every year. It had been out for, well, 12 or so years. I put it away this year. It was very dusty. LOL

    No more....

All my decorations came down yesterday. The house always looks so big and clean when they've been stored away again. :-D

I always like to start the new year with everything put away, but this year my brother's family had to put off celebrating Christmas with us till new years day- so i spent that night clearing it all away! We used to always have a live one, then plant it. This year, because our new yard is very small (and the recently redone wood floors so purdy) we gave in to an artificial one. It was actually kind of nice not worrying about water on the floor and needles everywhere.
