Sounds gruesome but we are talking Zombies here!!!

The other night we made a trip to one of the Spirit Halloween stores. I love those stores and the others like them, I can almost always find a new witchy item for my collection. Maybe a new cauldron to use as a planter or a new hat, still looking for a comfy pair of shoes and some striped socks and I really need to remember to pick up a new broom next time I go there. ;)

We got a few things and came home. It was late when we arrived so the front garden was quiet. A slight breeze made the leaves on the Pecan trees rustle and walking up the driveway is an adventure at this time of the year when the Pecans are falling faster than I can keep them picked up..so there was a lot of popping and cracking as we walked to the house. Nothing to be concerned about though.

With the coolish (we didn't even consider that it might have been ghoulish instead) breeze we left the front door open to enjoy the fresh Autumn air while we sat in our comfy recliners to watch TV and enjoy a goblet or two of our favorite blush colored adult beverage.
Outside the sound of the rustling pecan leaves was very relaxing, even though at times the rustling seemed to be excessive for the gentleness of the breeze coming through the screen door. Oh, well, it was probably one of the darn feral cats that have begun wandering the neighborhood again.
Soon the breeze died down completely, it was late so we lockup and went to bed.

The next morning was very overcast, dark and cool. I went with camera in hand to wander through the front garden hoping to find new blooms to photograph. Not much happening flowerwise in the garden that morning but imagine my shock and horror to see this creature sneaking out from behind the rain barrel!!!

My new 'best friend'? ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden )

He gave me a drooling smile and just stood there mumbling something about being my new protector Gnome. As long as there is already a Zombie Gnome in a garden, any others that come along will stay clear of that garden so I don't have to fear going into the garden at night for the rest of the month. After Oct 31st though it would appear that I will be on my own.

I do have to figure out what to feed him though to keep him from rebelling....here kitty...no even I can't do that.

I've heard that they live on a diet of slugs, snails and roaches Toni. ;) Now and then they are said to enjoy the odd mouse or rat (roasted of course)for Christmas dinner and other important occasions. :p

Well, I would not want to go anywhere your garden while that gnome is there. He is downright creepy.

Toni's tale had me scared... but I wasn't prepared for that "guy".
I will now think of happy thoughts over and over before I retire for the night.
