For anyone close to Mt. Rainier, the wildflowers are fantastic right now near Sunrise. Berkley meadows is prime right now, and Summerland should be starting to peak this week. It is about 4-6 weeks late for the early bloomers, and the late ones are coming out, and the maples are starting to turn. Mother nature is confused. The paradise side may not have any wildflowers to speak of this year, there is still 9 feet of snow. See my blog for a few pix. Summerland meadow, Mt. A fantastic view and a curious one according to your account. It would seem the season has skipped a portion. Has it been unseasonably cool? Jerry
Yes, we had record snowfall in the mountains in the NW USA, and a very cold and wet spring and summer. We were snow skiing until July. The rivers in the northwest, Idaho, Washington and Oregon are much higher than normal, and the mountain wildflowers are a month later than usual also.
I've just been looking at all the wildflowers in your latest blog entry Karrma. A really nice selection and I'm so glad you posted them here at GardenStew for us.
