Yesterday, I arranged for a babysitter to come watch my 9 month old daughter so that my 2 sons, aged 4 1/2 and 2, could go to the butterfly exhibit at a nearby indoor garden dome. We had such a nice time and the boys are so excited now to catch some caterpillars and watch them turn into butterflies. Here are some pics of our adventure: A butterfly feeding station. My boys very gently holding some butterflies with the help of a worker there. The boys enjoying a quick rest. Peering over the bridge while they were misting below. And some pics of my garden now: My stargazer lilies. Love 'em! Another coloration of the stargazers, I think. I can't remember planting this one. LOL. My crazy zinnias and marigolds.
Looks like a fun day for all.I would have enjoyed tagging along.Your flowers in your yard are wonderful too.
I really like butterfly houses, and would have loved to be there with your lovely boys. Your lilies are wonderful. We've got Stargazers too, but that other oriental lily of yours is now on my wish list. It looks like one called "Garden Party".
It looks like you and your boys had a great time at the butterfly dome. I just love to see kids experience wonderment for the first time. Great photos!!
Just look at the rapt expressions on the boys faces!! They obviously thoroughly enjoyed their day out with the buterflies. :-D I think your lilies are gorgeous especially the white one that I'm sitting here drooling over. Your zinnias and marigolds are so colourful and such a joy to look at.
Droopy, I think that you are absolutely right about that lily being a "Garden Party". But the funny thing is that I must've planted the bulb 2 years ago and it never bloomed last year. So, it was a total surprise to me this summer. Thanks for the i.d.
We just went to one of those butterfly houses recently also, it's so much fun. Great pics. and cute kids. I'm sure they had a great time. That pink stargazer is on my list for next year...love it. And the rest of your flowers all look great as well. Thanks for sharing.
Your two boys are so great...I like the pictures too. Such a fun time for them. What is that at the feeding station on the first picture? Do you know what they use and what the colored things are? I would of liked to have gone along with you....Sherry
That butterfly house really looks like it would be well worth a few visits. Your flowers are beautiful.
What an experience for the boys. Very good looking youngsters and beautiful pics of your flowers. Thanks for sharing.
Sherry, I think that they just used really colorful little dish scrubbers in their feeding stations. They said that the colors attract the butterflies and the scrubbers just gave them a place to sit. The liquid is nothing more than sugar water. There were also dishes of overripe bananas and apples alongside the nectar dishes.
