I have 3 Amarylis in my conservatory and all 3 have already flowered this year.I started to reduce watering etc ready for winter but this one doesn't know that it should be shutting down and has flowered for a second time. Beauty!!! I read you have a conservatory....I however do not:-(....I bought one from a friends family estate sale, the bulb has to be 8+ years old or older, I do not want to hurt it....I live in MD and have re-potted it (since the pot it was in when I received it was falling apart)...its green leaves have withered naturally, but now what do I do? Do I need to take it out of dirt?...please help..I would like to keep this little treasure of my friends' Mom alive
Thank you Zinnia. When the leaves wither reduce /stop watering them and take them off as they crisp up. Keep it somewhere frost-free (sorry,I'm not familiar with your climate type) and start watering and feeding again in early spring.In a short while you should be rewarded with new leaves and a flower spike. I know that they like to be slightly pot-bound and you only half bury them in the compost. I only water from he bottom. This is the system that has worked for me so far. Mine have to put up with extremes of heat/cold in the conservatory as it is unheated in winter, unless we happen to use it and gets direct sun for a while each day in summer. Good Luck.

Love that color! I noticed the other day that one of mine was peeking it's head out of the ground. I guess it knows what it's doing... last year it didn't bloom. I have another one that wasn't growing well in the spot I had it. So it's in a container and acts like it wants to bloom.
