The control tower in Dayton lost power in thunderstorms Sunday am. The plane we were to travel in had a passenger with a panic attack and had to return to the airport in Indy, Sunday am. The airline was able to get us to Portland by Sunday night, but here is what we had to do. We flew to Raleigh, NC first on a very small express flight. 1 and 1/2 hours. Next to Boston, Mass. 2 hours. Then to Portland, OR. 6 hours. Instead of 6 hours total travel time, we spent nearly 13 hours trapped in airports and cylindrical steel tubes. Whew! Have just now recovered. FBG
That was some journey FBG. All that travelling really does take it out of you doesn't it? I'm glad you managed to get to Portland eventually and that you're now recovering from your ordeal. Let's hope the journey back is totally uneventful.
We are glad you are recovered well enough to let us know. Glad to hear you at least made it there. Enjoy your family and have a nice "rest of the trip". Hope your trip back is less eventful.
Flying used to be an adventure, a pleasure, not an ordeal. Hope your suffering is done and that after a nice visit with family, your return trip is quick and uneventful. Tell me the name of the airline you are returning on, and I'll notify them that FBG is a VIP (to us Stewies.)
Oh boy what a difference between a 6 hour flight and the roundabout flights taking 13 hours in total,..i always break out in a sweat when i hear flight canceled,..or late,..in particular when i had to catch a flight or flights after the first one,..Airports are a world apart.
Yikes! I feel your pain Mine wasn't that bad but it was pretty nerve wracking trying to get from Atlanta to Portland the last week of July when thunderstorms shut down that airport :-x
