This weird plant comes up every year, and has almost heart shaped leaves. They close when the weather is very humid, and open when the weather is cooler. There are small yellow blossoms which attract small yellow butterflies. Then the seed pods look like very small skinny green bean pods. I would be very grateful if you can name this plant.

Well after 14 views from others, I decided to take it up again, and this time I found it . . . I guess it is a weed, but I like it, and find it to be fascinating. . . the way the leaves fold closed sometimes, and the way it attracts butterflies.

    Sicklepod: Cassia obtusifolius

It's only a weed if you don't want it. Since it has such an interesting leaf and flower, you can reclassify it as one of your garden plants. Oh, and it doesn't look like it's in the plant database. :)

I have never seen this before. It is an interesting plant. For a weed it actually looks nice.

I like the yellow flowers. I'd keep it growing too.

SongofJoy57: I to like the heart shaped leaf. I decided to look it up and saw that there are a couple of varieties. But be careful as they all are poisonous to animals if eaten. It said that the seeds are the most poisonous part. If eaten by cattle it can kill them. I would definitely pick all the seed pods and destroy them. But it does look really neat. :stew1:
