Twice today I could have taken great pictures and I didn't have my camera with me. Number one: We went shopping. We stopped at WalMart. A huge number of those large grackle birds hang out in the parking lot. There was a smallish tree on the edge of the lot with no leaves on it. It was full of those birds. The wind was blowing the tree and the branches were swaying back and forth. The birds were having trouble keeping their balance and they kept falling off. When one would fall off it would start flapping it's wings and that would knock the one next to it off and it would start flapping it's wings. They would fly around and land in an open space. When they lost their balance the same thing would happen again. Picture this with 60 or 70 birds. I called it the flapping bird tree. It was so comical. Number two: When we got home we let Chance outside. She went out into the yard and flopped down on her back and began twisting and turning. Either she had an itch or she was cleaning her back. She got up and shook herself off and went exploring. The comical part was when she was twisting and turning around all five goats were lined up at the fence watching her. They had the strangest look on their faces. I can imagine them thinking, "What is she doing? Why is she doing that? Is it something we should be doing?" They watched until she got up and then they went back to eating the weeds and grass. Both times I had to laugh and wished I had a camera to catch the sights. dooley
Dooley, these moments are pictures for our minds. A certain amount of life experiences stay in the forefront of our memories. Fodder for stories years from now, you have chalked up two more, thank you for sharing. Jerry
Camera or not... you described it so well, I could visualize it so clearly and just had to chuckle! Don't just the simplest things make a day special?
Actually sometimes it's better not to have a camera so that the moments like those can be enjoyed fully in real-time. Plus I think your descriptions were apt Dooley. Thanks for the smile.
Love your story could just picture it and had a chuckle :-D Same happened to me a few weeks ago. Our garden has many lovely water dragons that charlie my dog loves to chase, never manages to catch one thank goodness. She came running into my study to get me to follow her. Looking very comfortable on hubbies foot stool in the living room was one very large water dragon, raced for the camera however charlie gathered some courage and had chased the dragon out before I could get a pic. Lots of chuckles there too.
They both sound pretty funny Dooley. Last summer, my great Dane puppy Sasha sat looking into the fan one day, just like the dog in the old RCA Victrola ad with the caption "His Master's Voice"... I tried to get a picture, but it was very blurry. They just do not stay posed for pictures long enough.
I missed a great photo today too Dooley! I was walking the dog this morning and all the horses came to the fence. All 4 babies lined up and were staring at the dog making her VERY nervous. It would have been a great photo!
