We bought a yard of bark mulch yesterday in preparation of me putting down landscape cloth and getting the garden winter ready. Not quite enough. I'll probably need a half yard more, maybe another yard. I need more in the front yard and then for a small garden at the back of the shed where I'm transplanting a helleborus. OK, my husband did take my car today so I have the truck and I can go get it..... However at the back of the shed is a dead tree my husband yanked out. Its been dead ever since we moved here but camaflouged by other trees. Its a dwarf burning bush. Picture looks lovely. Pity we never saw it alive. Its no dwarf judging by all the dead branches we have. So I'll need his help to move them before I can tear down the netting and pull the weeds in this spot. I hate to go buy more bark mulch when rain is in the forecast for the next few days and it'll just be riding in the back of the truck. Husband won't be impressed either. I'm afraid he might dump it in the middle of the lawn! I've had people walking past this morning telling me how good the garden looks. I realize it looks bare but its been overrun with weeds and runaway plants so getting it bare is quite an accomplishment for me. I plan to put in a couple more roses on either side of those young rhodos. Next spring I will use planters and barrels in the garden for flowers. Make it more manageable for me keeping them in a contained area. We have more landscape ties. I just put these 2 where they are for now. My husband really wants to set up the ties, so I'll wait for him. Well done you! Your new yard looks absolutely lovely now, even though it's a bit bare. As long as you get it the way you want it and manage to keep it all should be well, right?
I'm really impressed with your weed clearing skills whistler. Fancy coming over to Scotland and tackling mine? Your garden is looking great and I'd love to see more piccies of it once the ties are all in place.
