I'm in a bit of a disbelieving state at the moment. The date says April 26th but the blooms outside claim it's mid-May. Some are well-behaved, like the primulas and the trilliums: Primula x pubescens, blue ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Don't know the name of this auricula ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Double primulas ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Nice, yellow auricula, but nameless too ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) A rather ugly-charming primula that I call Charles Bronson. ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Trillium chloropetalum and Glaucidium palmatum ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Polygala looking good ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Trillium chloropetalum ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Trilliums and Soldanella ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) The fritillaries and narcissi are a bit ahead compared to previous years: Fritillaria meleagris ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) Narcissus Petit Four ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) But the hedge! Now what will I use on May 17th? Hedge blooming three weeks too early ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) The wood anemone is nice this year: Anemone nemorosa "Vestal" ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) I love the double bloodroot: Double bloodroot ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) The grass needs cutting! Before May 1st. ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden ) And my youngest claims she's outgrown her sandbox. So today she tidied all the toys away and will start removing the sand tomorrow. She wants pumpkins: The sandbox-soon-to-be-veggie-patch ( photo / image / picture from Droopy's Garden )
You do have a massive amount of blooms and they all look so pretty. I like the 'Charles Bronson' the description does fit him doesn't it? It's sad when your youngest starts putting away their formally favorite playthings. Hope she is able to grow some tasty pumpkins.
Those Primulas are glorious and Charles Bronson is not a bit ugly. Glad spring came early for you, Droopy. Hope your young one is blessed with many pumpkins.
Toni, I do feel a bit sad about it, but hey! She wants to garden, and that's definately a good thing. We have a lot of different perennials, and are adding to the garden every year. I just can't pass by a sweetie without considering how it would look in our garden. I'm not so certain about growing pumpkins here, but I hope we'll have some small success with it.
Beautiful flowers Droopy, and so many of them, I will look forward to pictures of your daughters pumpkin patch as it progresses, I am sure she will be just as happy with a garden as a sand box. They seem to grow up way too fast!
Funnily enough I was taking a walk around my garden today and thinking that everything was coming up very quickly this year. All my bluebells are in full flower. (They usually don't bloom until mid May.) On average most things are around 3-4 weeks early. You certainly have lots of colour now don't you? To think that we were wondering when spring was going to arrive not too long ago. :-D
Thanks for liking our flowers. Yes, everything sort of put itself on hold for a very long time. It was chilly, but no frost for a good stretch, and then suddenly the temps soared and everything went "Wooohaaa!" on me. And I thought I was way ahead with the spring chores. Now I'm well behind. No pleasing me, is there?
Your blooms are fabuliously(I know no such word but there is now ) wonderful.Wow!!!!! those blooms are just gorgeous min fact everything is soooo pretty. Looks like a perfect place for pumpkins.
What a startling array of spring bloomers, Droopy. I sometimes forget what a wonderfully expansive and varied garden you have. Today's posting bring it right into the limelight again. The Fritillarias stand out as do the Trilliums and double Blood Roots. I didn't know there WAS a double Blood Root. That "Charles Bronson Primula" is a very nice one indeed. All of your flowers have their own charm, but those ones really strummed my guitar, so to speak. This was a magical and stunning dispolay today. Early or not...they are supurb.
Thank you for the compliment! I don't know how many different plants we've got, and I don't think I want to know either. I just enjoy them.
