I do so love my angelica patch in the garden, so tall, so architectural, but boy does it not like me! Yesterday I had to cut some of the larger, older leaves back to make room for a climbing rose mum gave me. Of course, in my usual garden attire, I had a short sleeved top on, and now, up both arms, I have burns and blisters, those that Sjoerd remembers me suffering from before from parsnip foliage. I have a real problem with certain foliages and I really should know better by now, but I just garden away, without thinking. Wow are my arms itching tonight. I will try and find some pics from when I was burnt before, but if not, I'm sure these will develop nicely, so I will get Mark to take a pic this time.
I'm so sorry to hear of your problems with your Angelica plant.I am very allergic to cedar and pine and other plants.I hope you get well soon.
Oh darn it, EJ. Wot'r yew loik! I'm really sorry to hear about your hypersensitivity with Angelica. It's pretty typical for blond, light-skinned people, though. My bride is also a bit sensitive with some plant sorts. I don't think that I shall ever forget those awful Parsnip reaction fotos. They were alarming. I hope that you will begin with the cortisone before it advances too far.
It sounds as though you and I suffer from the same time of thing EJ. I come out in BIG itchy lumps with certain types of foliage - not funny when you almost scratch yourself raw trying to relieve the irritation.
Owww..I've never burnt or blistered but my fingers will peel and turn sore over deadheading geraniums of all things.
That's terrible EJ! I'm not too familiar with Angelica but I just saw a clip on the news about a very similar plant that causes severe rashes. I can't remember what it was called..I think it was Hog Weed. They said it was often confused with Angelica and to be very careful.
