    Hello Everyone,
OK, a few years ago we put on an addition to our house. We had a small room added to the back of our house. There is a small area between the original house and the new room and I ran some water pipes through this area for a washing machine.
my problem is that the animals dig under the room and take all the insulation off the pipes ( I guess for their nest) and every the pipes freeze. I want to put some moth balls in this space, but my wife tells me that moth balls are dangerous? I had dug a trough around the room and put wire in it, but the animals dig deeper. Is there anything I can put in this space that will keep the pests away? Thanks in advance.

Do you think they would take that foam wrap you put around pipes? I agree...Moth balls are not good for the environment. I would close up the area that they are getting in....when you have holes (even the size of a quarter) you can get mice, etc. Most people use the foam wrap around here to keep the hot water pipes from sweating and for freezing . I doubt if it would stop it completely (freezing, at least here in Wisconsin). Good Luck.
