I was sitting on the porch reading and occasionally looking out through the morning glories. I was frowning, I guess, because dr asked me what I was looking at. I told him that the bush straight out in the yard had a flower on it. I never even noticed it had buds on it. How observant is that? He told me, "Go get the camera."
I looked around and there are several of these bushes but only a couple have buds yet. Here is what is blooming:

I think they are pretty. The whole bush/tree will be covered in the flowers.

Dooley, the pictures are showing up for me.
It looks like a Rose of Sharon by the way.

I can see them too Dooley. I really like the dark centres to the flowers - very attractive.

Althea or Rose of Sharon. It should bloom its heart out for you. I think the bloom only holds for a day, then the ground underneath it will be covered with spent blooms!

beautiful flowers, the white with the maroon center is gorgous. My rose of sharon is just a plainer pink/maroon. I killed one of my two by over pruning it at probably the wrong time of year. Yours is so lush looking.

They are Rose of Sharon. One lady I work for has a double white with white petals on white petals.
