    Hello all,

Here is another moth photographed in my garden in Quebec (near Vermont) last July 14th.

    Any idea about the species?

    Cheers,

    Michel

Mmmm not sure of this one but it could be Eastern Tent Caterpillar Moth (Malacosoma americanum.)

If that is yours, keep an eye on your trees next spring and possibly again in the fall. Their caterpillars will defoliate a tree in no time, look for the spidery web like tenting (hence the name Tent Caterpillars). If you do find some, take a stick long enough to reach the 'tent' rip is open and let the wasps feast on the caterpillars....or spray them with an insecticide. And any caterpillars you find where you can reach them, squish them.

    Hello,

I think Eileen is quite near as I don't think it is Eastern Tent Catepillar Moth but rather her cousin the Forest tent caterpillar moth (Malacosoma disstria).

    Cheers,

    Michel

    Those are amazing pictures!
I love the one you got of its face!
Pity it is such a destructive moth because it has such a cute face!

So it's that simple, just tear the tent open and the wasps will eat them?
    I'll have to remember that.
    Which wasps eat caterpillars?
