There was a dead possum along the road this morning! So both the skunks and the possums are out of hibernation now. That's a little earlier than normal. Usually it's mid to late March before you start seeing them.
Oh, The skunks are out here. I smelled something faint in the house the other night and when I opened the back door...PEEEE WEEEEW! then I saw one hit on the road about 1/3 mile away yesterday morning.
One time DH car pool hit skunk. Got wrapped around drive shaft. And walked into customer house.EWWWW. I called them he came home. He Couldn't smell it dead possum in dryer vent. His wife had been gone.I hung wash out side.
Sadly we saw our first dead badger on the road to the hospital today. I wish, when roads are getting laid, they'd put in tunnels underneath them for creatures to get from one side to the other as they do in some places. I hate seeing deer, foxes, hedgehogs and badgers killed by roadusers.
We have a light dusting of snow on the ground this morning. The sun is out and it's starting to melt. In the grass in the back yard where it's melted, we have a Robin looking for worms. I think the ground is still frozen as the low this morning was 12F.
Most places have spring, summer, fall, winter. Here in Central Texas we have skunk season, snake season, coyote season, and opossum season. Each has his own, and believe me, the skunk season is the smelliest!
