Hi Anyone growing Gunnera Manicata? I have one and was looking for growing tips. Anyone ever grow one from seed??? If so...how did you do it?? Thanks everyone.... Take care GG
I love this plant, along with any that can make such a statement in the garden...unfortunately, they're not hardy here. Rhubarb is the closest we get here. They don't sound like they're that difficult to grow, though, but I know they need a lot of moisture.
One of my gardening friends has it. We don't have to worry about moisture here, but I know they like it moist. It's planted in a very sheltered place where it gets a lot of sun during the day. In winter it's covered with fleece blankets, a styrofoam box and an old rug weighed down with stones on the corners, since it's not hardy here. She bought the plant, I'm not certain it has managed to bloom for her yet.
Hi I do already have one and it is doing well but I was just looking for anyone else that may also have one to share their experiences with it. Here is mine in a 15 gal pot waiting for my 2nd pond to finish construction. I am in zone 5 and the person who gave it to me is in zone 4. They just require winter protection. Thanks again Take care GG
