Hey Stewbie kinfolk!! Ron grew up in the Syracuse and Watertown areas, and so we're heading that way for a 10 day vacay, leaving Thursday morning, heading to the Sterling Renaissance Festival in Sterling NY over the weekend, and visiting many people and places in that general area for the next few days. Any of you in that general area? I'd love to meet up, however briefly, and say hi!!
How wonderful...hope you get to see lots of Stewbies....I would be right in your line of fire but we are having mega problems here...a tree fell on my power pole Friday night and back fed mega power into my house. I am on a generator till I can get my house electric wires and breaker box inspected. The electric company WILL NOT turn on the electric until it is inspected and repaired. I will be in a mess probably for the next month. Our house was as close as ever to burn down and we really could have been electricuted...In 1 month our grandson will be here for a visit and we must be all together by then..
Hey Barb! Thanks for letting me know. I did actually think of you when I wrote this...I knew you were somewhere up north. Sounds like you've a grueling month ahead of you!! If anything changes we'll be in the area from this coming Thursday 2nd through Friday 10th, leaving first thing Saturday morning.
I will note that on my calendar but things are just getting worse by the day at this point...but I will keep SMILING....
Oh dear Barb! I hope things start getting better for you. none of us like the unknown or new stress. Breath deep my friend. at least you have a generator. most people don't even have those on hand.
carolyn, I have 2 generators but in summer I don't need to keep the greenhouse heated so we only have 1 running. The electric co gave us electric to the meter but I was afraid to turn on the breakers and go to bed. The inspector just collected money from me and did not inspect....that is very scary... So I have been without an extra day...we will check each circuit this even many hours before we go to bed this evening. I am so sorry @Ronni that we can't have you stop on the way...there wouldn't be anything I would love more...but is just would not be a leasurable thing. Maybe next time...
Please don't stress Barb! You have way more than enough to keep you busy without adding to it! Ron is from upstate New York, and goes back once every year or so to visit with friends and family. I feel certain there will be another time, another opportunity for a meet up!! Meanwhile.....ONE. MORE. DAY!!! Then glorious vacay for 10 blissful days of visiting with friends, gorgeous scenery, no work, amazing sightseeing, beautiful bike rides, lounging by the pool, sleeping in....in other words, paradise!!!
We have prevailed! Broken windshield repair, misplaced earbuds, forgotten dog food purchase, malfunctioning bike ramp, closed gas station, just to name a few of the barriers to starting out on vacation! And that was all this morning!! This whole week has been more of the same..sheesh! But we’re nothing if not doggedly tenacious! We’re motoring along now, bags packed and loaded, bike in tow, officially on our latest adventure!
Barb, I am so sorry that you are having to deal with this! I hope you are able to get some help with this! @Ronni, hope you have FUN!
I will be fine...still no hot water but on the brighter side, I can use cold to FLUSH....LOL new modern invention...it's nice...so plumber will come tomorrow to see about hot water...expensive oven, seal a meal, ice maker, 3 air conditioners, dehumidifier, and probably more are fried so far. We have overcome more than this in our life.... I would rather like to have Ronni pick me up and take off with her to where ever she is going....LOL Not really....
You want to run away! Whatever for? Major bummer that all your appliances are fried. Insurance coverage?? I hope you have some.
Yes I have insurance but the oven is built in and that opens up a whole new can of worms. But, of course, I can't run away...LOL must face my issues and deal with them...LOL
Barb... you have been through a lot and this is a "fixable" issue. all stuff that can be replaced. we had a huge (for us) issue yesterday. all I can say was thank God no one was hurt. a machine was damaged but that can be repaired and put back together to work another day... or even totaled it can be replaced. a person is not replaceable. keep your chin up and wade through it. no use drowning in it. you are strong and have a can do attitude and you will get through this.
