I thought my canna in a pot had died as it has been out all winter. However, just as I was going to dump it into the compost heap, I spotted 2 thick red shoots. What do you know, it survived! I am going to repot it and freshen the compost, but what I wondered is, are these really bog loving plants? I seem to remember they are, but don't know if that is all of them or just a certain variety. Now we have the new and improved pond, if I can add it to the planting scheme I would be very happy.

According to Wikipedia they are a plant of the tropics and the name is celtic for reed or cane (which I would associate with boggy areas). I think it may be worth a shot for you
Last year one of the garden centers I was at had Canna's with their pond plants. The lady working there said they were good bog plants. It was news to me!
When I was living in Milwaukee, They used Canna in the boulevards. Between the lanes, they had floral arrangements and Canna was most often the center tall flower. No Bogs there, but that may be the varity. Love them, and had them in my yard, until one year I didn't dig them up. Tom - Calomaar
Yesterday I was at Lowes and they guy there told me that Cannas love to be in the pond. I picked up 2 just to see~ mgf~
