in their predictions to how a winter will turn out? Up here the saying goes, the more berries on the tree, the more it will snow. So far i think their right. This same time last year was so much drier, bitter cold, hardly any snow until after the new year and darker. This year its heavy snow, brighter and warmer. Taking the 2 years last years rowen trees were very thin and hardly any berries. This years trees were so full they were hanging almost to the ground. Tall trees were bent over at the tops from the weight. The weather we have now in November is what we had at the end of January going into February. So. What do we do on days like this. We go out for a car ride and go for coffee.

The darktime is approaching very fast. We now have 4 1/2 hours of light aday. Not very bright sunny light but enough that we do see the sun now and then. So lets get in the car and go for a ride.

    Buckle up!

Remember after December 14th, we won't have any sun at all for a good many weeks. So enjoy the almost last of this years sun with me.

This is lake infront of that mountain. Its frozen over already.

And finally on the way home you can see the approaching dark just an couple hours later after taking a drive and stopping for coffee. That is the corner of the Beast, the mountain that sits across the fjord from our home.

I hope you enjoyed our little trip together just to get out and about and have a little hot coffee to keep us extra warm.......

    Pretty pictures Biita.
You have just made me very nervous...the Rowan Trees here are also loaded with berries. We already have snow on the ground and snow squall warnings for the rest of the week. I don't remember how many berries they had last year, but we had record amounts of snow.

Breathtaking views Biita, what a beautiful place. When I was a child we had a large rowan tree outside our house and I always remember my grandmother saying that it would be a hard winter when it was loaded with berries. Funny how little things remind you of years gone by.

Gorgeous pictures, winter has certainly arrived for you. I'm still looking for it around here.
That last photo is eerie with the dark approaching like that.

I am getting a bit chilly guess I could use another cup of coffee too.

Thank you all, i just had to get out for a little and well the roads are all ice now so its hard to stop and get out and take pics, so i just snapped them from inside the car. Sorry about all the poles and street signs.

Netty, we have nothing but snow forcasted for the next week and well i'm sure there is more than that even. I guess all i can say is get the shovels ready because i bet you end up like us,,,lol.

Amazingly its not really cold unless the wind blows. Its almost an odd warm. But i'll take it, after last year. ohhh no, no, no, that was not a fun winter at all,,,lol. The lungs froze if you tried to breath.

Toni i took another pic of the approaching dark that was even freakier, but its kind of blurry. I'll post it anyways.

Its like driving into the unknown,,,lol

Beautiful pictures but definitely not my scene. I'm not a snow person. Give it to someone else every winter and I'll be a happy person. dooley

Gorgeous photographs Biita. Can I pinch them please for my collection?

My rowan has far more berries than it did last year and produced them much earlier than usual too. So far though we've only had hail and rain. Maybe we'll get snow, for once. on Christmas day!!

Gotta hand it to you, girl, you live in a beautiful place, dark time or not. The 4th and 6th pictures had me gasping, they're so lovely!

The saying here is that if the rowan has lots of berries, we'll have little snow since it won't carry two heavy burdens. This year there were lots of rowan berries, but we've not had lots of snow. Yet. Snow's predicted here too for the next week, so we'll see how it goes.

Thank you! Its amazing how the little folk sayings can be so true. We started out with about 3 weeks of hail and rain, now its just snow that comes thru. If it does stay like this it will be the first time in a very long time that we had literally tons of snow. Snow that goes waist high is nothing here. So i guess we have to wait and see how it all turns out.

Those photographs are stunning, I love snow and the colours in the sky give them a wonderful feel, I do not like the idea of so little or no light but I am sure I could get used to it to experience scenes like those you have shown us. The birds and squirrels in my mums garden are apparently going mad for nuts and have eaten all the berries which made us wonder if we were going to have a hard winter but I have not seen any Rowan trees to see how they are faring.
