How you selected your handle for in Garden Stew? I will start. My last name is Kirkpatrick, in the Navy everybody calls each other by there last name Like Smith or Jones. Well my name was just too much of a mouth full, so they just called me Kirk. Then Star Trek came out on TV and then they called me Capt Kirk. and the nick name has stuck ever since! When the show first aired, I used to watch it, but was never a Trekkie! Now what are your stories?
My story as well as a lot of others are in this old topic but I'd love to hear about the newer member's usernames
I picked Gardengater because I've wanted an arch with a gate for my yard a long time and I figured if I think positive it would materialize. I now have a fence with a small gate around my vegetable garden so I'm moving up! Gardengater
I picked Bluebirdie because I LOVE birds, especially Bluebirds. I joined an on-line forum for birdwatchers and wanted to have my name as Bluebird, but it wouldn't let me pick it so I went with Bluebirdie. When I joined here I had grown attached to that name, so I used again. Thanks for starting this post Captain Kirk. It is interesting to learn how everyone decided on a name. I love those old Star Trek shows, btw.
I own a store called The Wren's Nest. The first couple of forums I joined I joined as thewrensnest. A guy in one of them started calling me Wrennie for short. Typin Wrennie is much quicker too so I kept it. Most of my online friends call me Wrennie even when they know my real name. And some of my customers call me Wren assuming its really my name.
I love the bird stories. They are so cute. I did have alligators in my backyard once, but it was when I lived in Florida. They are few here in NC> Gardengater
