Are these Elephant ears? It looks like the Calla Lily I have, but there are no flowers in this one. I had planted them at the same time. ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden ) My calla lily - the picture is not clear at all. ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden )
Why are these not blooming while the others are blooming. The ones blooming get more sun. Should I move this to a more sunny location?
Mine on the north side of the house bloom later than many in the neighborhood. They are just starting to bloom. Plant them where you want them but they like moisture. They come from marshlands originally and don't like long periods of drought.
No flowers still on these and the leaves are huge. Still thinking Calla Lily? Here's a picture I took yesterday : ( photo / image / picture from Tina's Garden )
Joe, yet another case of two plants, same common name and why it's really a good idea to use the Botanical name. What Tina is referring to is Colocasia esculenta (Taro, Coco Yam, Elephant Ear)
Calla lily. I have a bunch of elephant ears in pots and these don't look like mine. The colocasia have a much rounder leaf. Sorry, I have no camera at the moment nor a camera card slot until I get a new computer or I would upload you a picture of what I have as an elephant ear.
Is it likely to bloom though? My other (much smaller) calla lily in the front yard had bloomed and gone now. Why isn't this one blooming yet?
Just give it time. If nothing else you will have a nice bulb/corm/root for next year, but I do think it will produce a flower eventually. the plant looks very nice and healthy.
Definitely calla and good ones too, the flowers will come,it is full of leaf but there will be flowers as well, just don't know when!
That's a lovely bergenia Joe. A friend gave me a cutting of hers 8-10 years ago and it continues to just sputter along, not living & not dying.
