Hi, My son and I have been working in our new garden that was tilled from a weed patch this spring. Half of the garden has gone well, but on this second half, I am noticing a tiny underground worm that I've never seen before. It's about 1/4 inch long, dark grey to black, my son thinks it has an orange head and it wants nothing but to burrow back into the soil as fast as it can. It's very prolific on this side of our garden. I'm wondering first of all what it is and second of all what I need to do, if anything, to get rid of it. Thank you all for your time! :-D Montana Gardener
Hello again Montana Gardener. :-D Check out this website it may have some information that can help you out. http://www.eap.mcgill.ca/publications/eap59.htm
Hi there Montana Gardener, Do the "worms" look like this swift moth larvae http://ukmoths.org.uk/images/GhostMothLarvaCH.jpg
Do they by any chance curl up...if so I heard one slang for them is roly poly and I don't know if they do damage to plants or flowers but my garden has 'roly polys'.
