Picked a bouquet of flowers from around the yard to put at my Mom's grave for Mother's Day. There was only one Day Lily (her favorite) in bloom and just one Iris left. Then took a bit of the climbing roses and added a touch of the Kalanchoe (another of her favorites). My brother was going to throw it out if I didn't do something with it... so I grabbed some stuff off the mark down rack and filled it up. wheelbarrow front ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) wheelbarrow top ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) Since we never know who's going to be at the house and when, I decided it would be best to get one of those automatic water timers for the new flower bed. It needed propping up... so found this old shovel head that was dug up recently with all the work going on at the house. timer-shovel ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
What a lovely bunch of flowers you took to your parents. I'm sure your mum would approve of your choice as they are very pretty. I love the wheelbarrow 'planter' so colourful and cheery. The spade head is the ideal thing for holding up your water timer - isn't it great to utilise things that others would just throw away? :-D
Sweet bouquet for your Mom Chery, she would love it I'm sure. And I'm glad you saved that wheelbarrow. Why throw it out when it can be re-purposed with floral delights!
Cheryl, tell your brother that there is no throwing out anything that can hold plants. I have three wheelbarrows. The flowers for your Mom are gorgeous.
So pretty for your mom... And I love the wheelbarrow. If you have a minute, I'd like to hear how the timer works out for you. Did you connect it to a sprinkler or soakers? I was looking at these online just yesterday.
My brother has learned that if it can hold flowers or it can be made into a stand that will hold flowers... it's mine! :-D And as far as the timer... it was easy to program. Just set the current time. Choose what time you want the water to start and stop. And how often.... several times a day... everyday... every other week... whatever you need. And then set the length of the watering time. You just hook it up to the faucet and then attach the water hose (I have a lawn sprinkler at the other end). It worked on my "test" rather well. I'm sure I'll have to do some adjusting of the time, etc over the summer... but for now I have it set to water every other day at 6am for 15 minutes. I'll be at the house this weekend... guess the proof will be in how the plants look. Oh yeah... this one cost around $25. There were more expensive ones... but I liked the features and simplicity of this one.
