Took mum down to the South Coast for the weekend for some sea air. I know how much you all love to see a castle, so I thought I would post some of Arudel Castle and Cathedral. We didn't go into the castle as mum really wasn't up to it, but we are planning a return journey, just the 4 of us a bit later in the summer.

WOW what an impressive building!! I can just imagine knights holding jousting tournaments in the grounds and wolfhounds lying on the floor of the banqueting hall waiting for leftovers from the tables.
:-D Thanks for sharing your day out with us EJ. So glad to hear that your mum is feeling better and I hope she continues to do well. :stew2:

Castles and cathedrals are always interesting to me. I quite like the architecture. They are often impressive outside, but a careful examination of their interiors also reveal some gems often.
Thanks for showing these pics they are very nice.

Wonderful shots EJ. What an impressive building! Do you know off hand when it was built?

I do love castles, the Norwegians never got around to making any of those. I'm born way too late I think. I'd have loved to sneak a peek at what it looked like in the 1100-s.
