weeding. I just came out of them a couple of minutes ago. Time to get out of the heat. Almost caught up on weeding. Still have to water copiously. It's been much too hot to do anything outside after work. Anyone available for a rain dance? I've only had .10 (1/10) inches in the last 28 days. Edited to clarify rainfall amount.
I feel for you FBG! Sounds like what we went through last summer. I'll gladly share our expected week-long rain chances here with you and the others.
It's been raining for so long here that I wish I could send some your way. Many areas of the UK are flooded and there's still more to come!! We had a whole months worth of rain in just 24 hours which I'm sure would have been more than enough to keep your plants happy.
FBG, I feel your pain. I think we have had three 1/2" rains in the last 80-90 days. Yesterday was 102f at the high of the day and when it was 93 at 7:30pm I said 'Oh, this is comfortable compared to the 102 at 2:00." My husband just rolled his eyes and I was being completely serious. I noticed today that the field corn is starting to tassel and it is VERY short yet.
Don`t worry, ours started at knee high but by time to pick it, was over my head. And its peaches and cream sweet corn. (and I am 5'1". moderator's note: removed unnecessary quoting of previous post
We had a small shower just hours ago. Each bit of rain helps. I heard that the UK is very cool and rainy. Produce stands are selling corn here.
OH, KK, That is an excellent thought. Could you please try. I live fairly close to FBG and maybe I could get in on this, too. Thanks!
We got 1 1/2 inches yesterday which is rare for July in Texas. Supposed to have a bit more for next three days. All the hay people are happy.
Saw a customer/friend/contractor/classmate today. He was digging a sewer line for new construction. He said there was NO soil moisture to nine feet. That is nearly 3 meters! Seems to have been some rain North, South, East, and West of me though Not enough I'm sure, but still........
