I finally figured out the macro lens, so here we go! :-D

Poor monarch, wrong place at the wrong time.

Butterfly that I should know the name of...

You can't leave it there Pianolady because we MUST see more and yet more. :D I love the shots you're getting with your new camera - that spider shot is a real work of art.

I believe the unfortunate butterfly is a painted lady butterfly, not a monarch. The yellow one is a yellow swallowtail, I believe.

Poor butterfly any way, that sure is a pretty spider though. I'll have my wife look it up, she likes spiders and snakes. We always just called them garden spiders.

Very nice photos! I especially like the butterfly and Phlox, but some garden drama won't go amiss either. :D

Beautiful shots, you are becoming quite a pro with that new camera.

The Swallowtail appears to be a Giant Swallowtail
    Papilio cresphontes

The spider is an Orb Weaver...aka Writing Spider, Garden Spider and Charlotte from the E.B.White book Charlotte's Web :-D

Thanks for the compliments, and for helping out labeling these creatures. It's a great help.
