Getting ready for growing some tomatoes, and wanted to share this system that I got from AutoPot, the XL version. The pots are 6.5 gallons and bottom wicking nutrient from a 12 gallon reservoir. I was not sure how well it would work, so I stress tested it using a heavy feeding zucchini plant and was surprised at both the vigor and longevity of the grow. This setup should do quite well for my upcoming tomato plants.
I just grew mine last year in three gallon styrofoam containers and flower pots ! Had more tomatoes both ripe and green than I knew what to do with ! Will be eating Caddo Relish for a long time ! That system sounds like a lot of trouble ! Why not just raise them in the local soil ? Sunlight is what makes tomatoes taste good instead of like round red cardboard!
