The allotment is still in full swing, but over the last 3 or 4 days, we have had so much rain here in Essex, I was concerned that my squash collection would rot, and the strong winds would blow the last of the apples from the tree, so this morning, when for a brief couple of hours the sun shone, we all popped to the allotment for a hunter gatherer session. Mark with fishing net in hand gathered the last of the apples from the top of the trees. Some were whoppers. The Big Apple comes to Essex. Shame I can never get them to dry out completely. We arrived home a little before lunch time, and as we settled down to lunch, in came the rain, and it rained for most of the day. A good job well accomplished. Tomorrow, weather permitting, I am going back to finish off weeding and plant my other 100 onion sets. Great pics....Cor blimey! That is quite a load of gourds, marrows and pumpkins....a nice Casper too, BTW. I always said that you were a tallented gardner, but when you planted Casper seeds I never thought that you had a ghost of a chance in geting them to germinate.
I harvested 13 lbs of apples from my tree but none as big as yours EJ. Love the look of all those gourds!!
Let me at those gourds! We've tried growing them with absolutely no success at all. You've really done well this year, Emma. I hope you'll get less rain so you can have more fun outside.
The casper plant was quite a suprise Sjoerd. I think the gourds loved the late rain we have had, and growing through the membrane. I am certain that it kept the soil warm and damp, and no weed competition.
