Well the summer flowers are gone, roses fading (except Knockout) and the visions will have to last until April. Will have to start planning for which seeds I want to start indoors. (little space) :'( I may need to start a roof garden next season. Pansies brighten up my day now. They last all winter here. Thank goodness as I become depressed in the winter. SADD. As a nurse, I know what to do to help, but it takes the growing season to cure it completely. glad to have the stewbies to talk to. Gardengater Just living is not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. HCA [/quote]
No, I don't know why my box got so big. sorry. GG Just living's not enough. One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower.
I just edited it to make it shorter. Also, your response was posted three times for some reason so I deleted two of them.
Lucky you to have pansies outside all winter! The only blooms I'll see from now one are the ones in the window.
Thanks Toni, I get carried away sometimes. You're right, Droopy, I need to be thankful for the color I've got. GG
Autumn....more like mid-winter here I had to say goodbye to all my lovely flowers in one foul swoop last night after they had about 3" of snow dumped on them. All my begonias, dahlias, marigolds, cannas etc all flattened :'(
I only have a few cyclamen flowering at the moment but at least I have shrubs that bear berries so all is not lost. :-D The birds are certainly enjoying the cotoneaster and pyracantha fruits along with the few apples I left on the trees for them.
My plants will all be going this week. Dan just picked up the lemom verbena and the rest are going to a volunteer at work who ask for a plant to remember me by. I asked if she wanted all my outside plants and a couple inside plants and she was all enthused over it so one day soon I will deliver them to her. One more worry taken care of. The begonia's are blooming and I think the geranium still has a couple of blooms. Other than that just the blue salvia has a few blossoms. We had a cold snap that turned leaves yellow and they are falling at a rapid rate. I, too, hate to see the end of fall. Can't wait for spring. dooley
I am more grateful for the colour everybody else has got, especially if they're kind enough to post photos here so I can see them. It may sound silly, but I really enjoy looking at flower photos when we've got winter.
My flowers all went in a day or so since we have been having frosty nights. I guess it is time to fill my bird feeders and watch the colorful birds. Wannabe
We've had 2-3 nights of frost the past few days and so I have very few blossoms left and many of the deciduous trees and bushes in the flower garden have lost their leaves already. I started-off the broad beans about a week ago and I am seeing some soil disruption in the trays now. Thery won't have flowers until may, but they'll be green at least. I am sorting through the pics that I took this past summer and am going to burn them onto a DVD to look at from time to time...it helps me when I have a "shortage of colour attack". I'm wishing you strength in the coming months and all your pals here will be here if you need to see a colourful pic from time to time. I'll bet those big, floppy panseys look pretty good about now. Fingers crossed that you can get a pic or two to show on here.
Yup, the stew brings me happiness in the winter when all is white here. Be happy you have some Pansy's. I know those photos will brighten my day
Thanks to some very caring "buds" I've got out my light visor and have stopped whining now. To those of you who have had snow, curl up in front of the fire with a glass of mulled wine. At least the cold will take care of a lot of those bugs before spring. Thanks so much for the "shoulders" Gardengater
