Well that went better than I expected!!! It wasn't too uncomfortable at all. :-D I do have a sore throat but that'll clear up in a couple of days no doubt. The worst part was not being able to drink anything before the endoscopy. I've just had a nice, cool drink of water and boy did it taste good. :D

They took a bioposy while they had the tube down my throat so I should get the reults back fairly soon if they find anything wrong. Keep your fingers crossed for me won't you?

I'm off now to have something to eat as I've had nothing since last night.

Eileen, will keep good thoughts coming your way about the test results.
Randy had one of those about 3 years ago, they ended up having to put him completely out because of his severe gag reflex.

If you have severe acid reflux or GERD it can cause damage to the esophagus. The endoscopy is where they send a small camera down your throat to check things out and possibly take biopsy samples if something looks inflamed.
Not a comfy procedure but since you are drugged at the time it isn't too bad. Randy swore the camera they used on him was an old fashioned Kodak Super 8 for home movies...but then men do sometimes blow things out of proportion. :-D

Thanks for all your messages - it was lovely to read them and know that you are all concerned about me. :-D

Yes Frank I hadn't had anything to eat or drink from around 11pm last night. 18 hours in total without so much as a sip of water - not something I want to do again in a hurry!!!

Toni you described the endoscopy to a T except that I wasn't drugged and mine was to find out what a feeling of obstruction was in my gullet.
(I'm one of those lucky people who can put themselves in a 'different place' mentally while having tests like this and therefor don't need sedation or local anaesthesia for minor proceedures.)

Anyway, the biopsy was to see whether the obstruction was due to a tumour formation or a hiatus hernia.

Shouldn't be long until I know one way or the other.
